Aztec Farms purchased the Pigblup genetic evaluation software
program in 1993 and uses it every week to evaluate the worth of
every pig as a replacement in the breeding herd.
Pigblup currently gives Aztec Farms EBVs for daily gain,
backfat, number born alive and 21-day litter weight. The $INDEX
figures available from Pigblup and then MIPS provide a single
solution by combining the EBVs into a single index based on the
economic, production and marketing data which we nominate. |
Included in this data is
the base carcase price we expect in the future, cost of feed,
labour and housing, pre and post weaning mortality, target carcase
weight and dressing percentage.
