Aztec Farms has been a successful business over the past 25 years and continues to improve its performance and profitability.

All feed is milled on the farm under instructions from the feed nutrionist. Grain storage and a weighbridge provide cost advantages in our northern Riverina location of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. This location is a source of feed grains from surrounding irrigated and dry land farms.

Our labour force is stable and modern farm houses on the property provide excellent accommodation for the staff.

The design and construction of the 850 sow Aztec Farms piggery is situated 25 kilometres North of Griffith, began in early 1981.

All animals arriving at Aztec Farms were split into five different herds, each with its own tag colour for identification. These herds have continued to be bred separately and the boars selected from one herd are placed into the next, to reduce the likelihood of inbreeding.

In April 1982, when the last of the purchased stock was delivered, the herd was closed to the arrival of more live pigs and the decision was made to breed and select all replacement animals within the herd.

A notable aspect of this selection programme is that all animals born are eligible for selection.

We have ample high security water and use ponds to recycle and reduce water wastage.
